Puget Sound WA - Michele Johnson reports that in May 1999 that High Risk had been out on the race course since April. 1999 got off to a good start with a 3rd in Division A at the Anacortes Yacht Club Tulip Cup. Local club racing on Wednesday nights began with Dayligt Savings and a cancelled first race due to heavy weather. Thereafter, High Risk sailed well to take 2nd overall in her division in the first series of the season. | ||

Long Beach CA - In 1999, the Volvo Inshore Championsip was established in southern California. This series included the San Diego Yachting Cup, Cal Race Week at Marina del Rey and the North Sails Race Week in Long Beach. 145 boats competed in 10 classes. Santa Monica Class member Al Berg, whose successes were also mentioned in the 1999 newsletter, sailed his 9.1 Whisper to first overall in PHRF 4 for the series! |
