Lance,

I think your dodger must be attached to the deck much further forward than mine. Mine snaps down just in front of the sea hood.

The dodger already interferes with the handles when using the halyard winches. I do not have any room between these winches and the front of the dodger to add clutches.

BTW, do you actually use the small winches or are they just there?

I replaced the stock clutches with the large Lewmar Triples and moved them aft to fit behind the dodger. I still have both sets of winches on the cabin top and it seems to just fit. You have to watch the "throw"? , the way they open and close(fore or aft) to make sure they don't hit the windows on the dodger.

I am planning on removing the small 16ST halyard wincehs from my boat. No one uses them even for halyards.

I have a dodger and I would like to move the clutches aft so they are under the dodger. I will put them approximately where the small winches are.

Most of the boats I have raced on only have 2 sets of winches. The ony time I can imagine a 3rd set would be handy is at leeward marks in a spinnaker race, but I think that can be handled with proper planning. I think I'll add some of those single sheave line deflecters aft of the clutches so if someone had to they could use the winch on the other side of the cabin top.

I am just curious if anyone else has done this and how it worked out, or if anyone knows any reasons why this is a bad idea.
