The link at the bottom of this message will take the reader to an S2 Factory letter dated June 1998.

This letter from S2 contains factory answers to many common questions regularly submitted to them regarding the sailboats they manufactured. Readers should search this document thoroughly for answers before attempting to contact the factory.

It is common knowledge that S2/Tiara no longer manufactures sailboats as a part of their current boat building business. As such, they are unable to justify an ongoing commitment to servicing sailing products built over 15 years ago. This is explained in detail in the letter.

With that said, the Class Founders and Officers have always recognized the association’s critical role in preserving and providing information about the S2 9.1 Meter. Gathering this information and making it readily available has always been a top priority of the Class Association and its Officers.

As a result, the S2 9.1 Class Association, through its web-site, has established a single, permanent, secure and ever-growing archive of information regarding the 9.1 Meter sailboat. The Class web-site also provides a convenient, on-line forum through which 9.1 owners can find, share and exchange knowledge and experiences at any time. In addition to the web-site, the Class Association also publishes and distributes periodic newsletters highlighting this information.

The benefits provided by the Class are many to 9.1 owners whether they cruise, race or pursue both interests. While some benefits of a Class Association may be more obvious than others, the end result is that the 9.1 Meter continues to maintain excellent re-sale value in the marketplace. A 2001 article in Sailing World Magazine featuring the 9.1 as a boat delivering excellent value clearly recognized the efforts of the Class Association and the individual owners of these boats. The Class Association and its Officers have and continue to work endless hours to bring attention to the 9.1 Meter in a world where big dollars and racing budgets continue to dominate the public sailing scene.

The value of a strong Class Association also transfers with ownership. To be sure, no boat owner likes to think of the day when they will have to turn their passion, love and boat over to someone else. Sellers and prospective buyers of the 9.1 Meter can all be more secure in the confidence they will be supported by a well-organized Association providing a wealth of well-preserved resources.

Of course, all these resources and benefits require a significant annual effort and expense. To date, the Class has relied on the honor system for support and sustenance, providing unlimited public access to this web-site. If you, like so many others, find value in this site and the Class Association, we simply ask that you take the time to join the Class and support these efforts through your annual payment of Association dues.
