Shooting Star had the original posts set in cast aluminum "sockets" bolted into the cabin sole (identical to the sockets on the underside of the table.) these cracked over time. I found comparable replacements at Post Marine in New Rochelle, NY and bolted them into the sole. No problems since, but you do have to apply some kind of lubricant to the crimped and tapered ends of the two "posts", or they will jam in place.
