I just bought "Lightning Rod" in Annapolis and am shipping it down to Florida to race. I do not have any experience with rod rigging. Based on an article from Sailing World, I am considering having the ends of the rod redone by having new heads cold pressed onto the original fittings.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Is this a reasonable precaution? I suspect this might be the original rigging for this 1985 boat.

Any response will be appreciated.
Thanks,
William Shirley
