MIDNIGHT RAMBLER WINS 1998 BOAT OF THE YEAR

Chicago sailors John & Kathy Meuller report that their 9.1 Meter Midnight Rambler was awarded “1998 Boat of the Year” in Section 6 of Lake Michigan PHRF Area 3 which covers sailors on all shores of the south end of Lake Michigan (Waukegan, IL to St Joseph, MI).

This series consisted of seven offshore port-to-port races: Chicago to/from Michigan City, Chicago to/from Waukegan, Chicago to St Joseph, St Joseph to Michigan City and Michigan City to Chicago. 15-35 boats including designs like the J30, Olson30, Olson911 and Petersen34 competed in the series.

Midnight Rambler finished first in section several times and finished first in fleet on the Chicago to Michigan City race, finishing ahead of a Santa Cruz 52! They nearly didn’t know where to tie-up becuase nobody had finished yet!
