2001 CHICAGO NOOD / NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE

Class entries at this event have diminished from ten to eight due to the withdrawal of Dick English's entry Tenacity and Scott Corder's Scooter. NOOD officials confirm that the Class retains its "go" status for the event. All is well, although the start line will be a bit less crowded.

Long time Class member Dick English will be missing one of his first Class events since buying the boat new in 1984. Dick is now scheduled for heart surgery to address symptoms his doctors have been monitoring for some time. A recnt conversation with Dick at the South Haven Invitational indicated that the surgery should be considered somewhat routine and does not constitute an emergency. We wish Dick a speedy recovery, look forward to having Dick back on the race course and ask you to please keep him in your thoughts.

In spite of his strong desire to make a big comeback to Class racing this year, Scott Corder reports that a very recent business setback for his company is the cause of his withdrawal from the Chicago event. Scott & his wife Lisa have decided it would be wise to "pull back" a little while the dust settles (and the direction of the economy becomes clearer). They want to reiterate that they are still planning enthusiastically to attend the Milwaukee Grand Prix event in August as well as the Muskegon Governors Cup in September. Scott will still be in Chicago on business during the NOOD and will stop by to deliver the trophies.
