One more By-Law change approved at the Feb. 3, 2001 Class Meeting follows:

Section II, Paragraph 6.C.6. now reads "Up to 3 battens are allowed."

This change simply eliminates the previous limit regarding batten length on the working jib (#3 headsail) allowed under the Class Rules.

This change was made to more accurately reflect the wide variety of batten lengths currently found on working jibs throughout the Class.

Class member Gary Hendrickson reported that a survey of sailmakers indicated that full-length top battens are common and preferred on most designs. It was agreed by all in attendance that allowing longer battens would benefit members by extending the life of the sail. It was also widely accepted that all members would potentially benefit from any advantages (very likely to be small, but still helpful in terms of longevity or performance in PHRF) resulting from any resonable experimentation with batten length.
